Q. How do I obtain the license?

A. Download a copy from www.myappsecurity.com  . Enter a valid email address in the download form and you should receive the license key in an email.  If you do not receive the email in your Inbox, please check your spam folder.

 

Q. License box pops up every time I run ThreatModeler. How do I get rid of it?

A. If you are using a trial license, the box will pop up every time you run ThreatModeler. To get a commercial license contact sales@myappsecurity.com .

 

Q. My license has expired. How do I continue using the product?

A. You will need to renew your license key. Contact us at sales@myappsecurity.com

 

Q. Is ThreatModeler free? What license is it under?

A. ThreatModeler is a commercial product.  A free 30 day license to try the product will be provided on downloading the installer. If you need to buy a commercial license, contact sales@myappsecurity.com for more details.

Q. Will this product work on Windows 2000?

A. The product requires the .NET framework 3.5 / 4.0 which is not supported on Windows 2000.

 

Q. What are the system prerequisites to installing ThreatModeler?

A. ThreatModeler requires Windows XP/Vista/7  32bit  or 64bit with .NET framework 3.5 / 4 installed.

 

Q. Will the product run on Mac OS X or Linux?

A. ThreatModeler is a Windows based tool.

 

Q. I am getting an error during installation / post installation.  Whom do I contact?

Q. How do I connect the icons to each other on the White Board?

A. Place the mouse over the center of the icon and you will get a hand pointer. Proceed to link to other components.

 

Q. I have created a Threat Model. How do I export it? Can I export it to another platform?

A. ThreatModeler allows you to export the threat model as an image. You can also generate a pdf report.

 

Q. How is ThreatModeler different from Vulnerability Scanners?

A. Vulnerability Scanners scan your application after the development is complete while ThreatModeler allows you to identify those vulnerabilities during the design phase itself and suggests mitigation steps to eliminate those vulnerabilities.

 

Q. Is ThreatModeler applicable to AGILE methodology?

A. ThreatModeler is a threat modeling framework and scales across any software development methodology.

 

Q. How is ThreatModeler different from other threat modeling tools?

A. While most other threat modeling tools cater to a specific threat modeling methodology which requires a high level of security expertise, ThreatModeler is a framework which is methodology agnostic, usable by anyone with little or no security knowledge and highly customizable to be independent of any specific technology or platform specific requirements.
